Only Fairy Tales Tell the Truth

Album cover for "Only Fairy Tales Tell the Truth"

Ymagination emotion commotion.

I can get stuck in a cycle of feeling thoughts and thinking feelings about a particular topic, usually some problem or other that needs to be solved, but for which no optimal solution exists. Or I’m bringing all sorts of information together from across my lifespan because my Self really, really, really wants to figure out what’s been going on with some similar, seemingly recurrent sets of events… because I know that once I get that pattern figured out, identifying damaged behavior that needs some healing, then life will become somewhat easier, and safer for everybody in general.

Those ymages will continue to occupy my mind unless I turn them into something real, moving them from inside of me, out into the world.

There are times when I will not be able to fall asleep due to this insistent, ruminative cycling… not until I start to pour it out into some creative sandbox or other. Posting material to my sites, or publishing a book or an album (or similar), makes these entities feel real enough that I don’t have to continuously devote my attention to their existence. They are able to live elsewhere.

So drawing that turmoil outside of me is how I approach some sort of internal peace.

And then that peace-ward change allows me to relax, and even sleep.

If you look at the sheer volume of my creations, you can get some idea of how often I am not at peace.

Lyrics

It takes a mortal verse weird and memorable,

to make a memory dear and tellable

so I can unveil a fable.

It takes a memory dear and tellable,

to make a fairy tale real and shareable

so I can reveal a truth.

Cause only fairy tales are real enough

    to tell the truth.

It takes a fairy tale real and shareable,

to make a parable sweet and singable

so I can unseal a heart.

It takes a parable sweet and singable,

to make a song lyric clear and viable

so I can beguile a poem.

Cause only fairy tales are real enough

    to tell the truth.

It takes a song lyric clear and viable,

to make a vital path fierce and versatile

so I can release a song.

It takes a vital path fierce and versatile,

to make a mortal verse weird and memorable

so I can seduce some sleep.

Cause only fairy tales are real enough

    to tell the truth.

A memory unveils a fable,

that reveals a truth,

that unseals a heart,

cause an insomnia poem,

inspired a real-life song.

Letting me sleep.

Blessed, wondrous sleep.

My songs are fables…

cause only fairy tales are real enough

    to tell the truth.
