Velvet Whisper Pony Song
How can a lullaby album not have a song about ponies?
It can’t. Well, not on my watch, anyway.
These lyrics draw attention away from any internal stuff that might be making it difficult to fall asleep. Nothing about closing your eyes, your lids getting heaving, breathing a certain way, or any of that sort of thing. There’s nothing to create a concern that you’re doing it wrong.
It’s just carefree, faerie ponies doing stuff in dreamland, being whimsical, and calmly waiting to play with you in your dreams.
Faerie ponies that eat ravioli while playing peek-a-boo, no less.
Because that’s what the lyrics told me they wanted to say, and be.
And why the lyrics, “velvet whisper pony song”? Simple: I wanted 7 syllables with a consistent rhythm, ending in “pony song,” and starting with two fluid words of soft and fuzzy sensoriness.
That’s why.
